The Quest for a studio… and becoming a inspirational mentor…

For almost a decade I have been shooting on location or in borrowed or rented studios. Over the past few months I have been looking at studio spaces in the hopes of acquiring a venue in which I will be able to offer my clients much more and increase my work capability and availability to do projects. Having a studio will allow me to offer much more and have a more secure location do photo shoots, body painting and even have a gallery in which to show and sell my work on a consistent basis.

Today I went to Norman to check out a studio that is available should I want to partner up with the people and tomorrow I have a meeting with a photographer that I have been assisting from time to time on wedding photography.

I have also been working hard on inspirational and motivational articles for So6ix magazine and soon will be offering classes on goal setting, promotions, body art, photography and more..

Distinctly Oklahoma magazine has also expanded my role with their publication and I will be doing photography and creative makeup for an special upcoming article in the August 2010 issue.

Keep your fingers crossed as soon I will bringing much more to the table with my photography, painting, and creative work. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.

Check out the new July issues of Distinctly Oklahoma Magazine and So6ix Magazine for some great articles on all that is good and fun in Oklahoma.

On a last note, I have 4 websites that I am revamping and streamline to help organize my work and also promote fellow artists. Keep your eye out for a completely new website that will be truly inspiring.

Until next time, stay positive and creative…

Attention models/actors in Oklahoma and California. Are you interested in working on projects in 2010?

Many of you know i do several events each year through my photography, promotions and such. Some are body painting, other fashion shows, spokemodels for clients at tradeshows etc. I am working with talent agents and other businesses now as well. If you are interested in working with me this year please let me know either here or by email.

I will be having interested models fill out questionnaires as well so I can know more about each person and find jobs that specifically fit each candidate.

some work is trade and some is paid, I will specify for each project.

Here are some base questions in advance:

1. ) Why do you want to model?

2. ) What can you bring to the table?

3. ) Are you reliable? Why or why not?

4.) What kind of experience do you have?

5. ) do you have a portfolio of your work?

6. ) what are areas you wish to improve on?

7. ) do you prefer studio settings, outdoors, events, promotion, several or all?

8. ) Where do you see yourself in your profession or hobby in 5 years and in 10 years?

9.) if you have previous experience, what was your favorite or most memorable job and why?

10.) When you have differences with a models, professional or client, do you act professional or let your emotions get the best of you? How do you deal with situations that upset you?

11.) Are you willing to work with models that you may not get along with?

12.) What is your favorite genre: R&B, Couture, Fashion, Sports, Nightclub, Spokesmodel, Swimwear, etc.? What do you prefer? What looks best in your portfolio?

These are some general questions that can help me, help you find work as well as some of the clients I work with. You can email me privately, but know responding here, several of the people I work with will see your responses and you will be able to find work not only through me but other photographers, modeling agents, etc. I will also be posting this note on some of my other forums.

Thank you in advance for your interest. 2010 is going to be an awesome year.

Sincerely,
Bryan Crump

Treading Dreams

Treading Dreams

This shot was done at an artists and photographer meet and greet in Talihina, Oklahoma. The host of the event had a heated pool and hot tub that were both salt water.

This was a result of my first time shooting under water while also learning to use scuba equipment for the first time. So, I was really winging the whole experience. Instead of having an camera enclosure, I was using an underwater camera bag so this made it awkward as well.

Luckily, i had several understanding models that I was working with. Rachel is the model in this particular shot and wanted to do a sort of under water meditation type shot.

Despite it being a learning experience. I am very happy with the way the shots turned out. I have to thank everyone that helped make it possible, from the gentleman that let me borrow his scuba equipment to the photographer who was injured and could not do the underwater pictures he wanted and so graciously let me attempt the experience. Yet again my work evolves because I had the opportunity to work with wonderful and supportive people.

The Adobe Grill, Restaurant Review

Adobe Grill Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

I have been shooting for Distinctly Oklahoma for a while now and have had the pleasure of working with many wonderful new clients. In light of some of my experiences, I have chosen to start creating blogs on the various assignments, businesses and restaurants that I cover for the magazine.

For the Restaurant Review in the November 2008 Issue of “Distinctly Oklahoma” Magazine, I shot the Adobe Grill, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The Adobe Grill is located at: 5120 N Shartel Ave, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73118
PHONE: 405-848-7250

No matter how prepared you are for a shoot, there is always the unexpected. The Adobe Grill is a well run, Gourmet Mexican Restaurant that serves a variety of excellent foods, but what I found most intriguing is the art that the owner creates. Everything in the restaurant has an artists touch. There are hand painter chairs, paintings and artwork everywhere to entertain your eye.

The purpose of this blog is to thank the folks at Adobe Grill for a lovely experience and to let everyone reading this know that they are very easy to get along with and the experience of the restaurant is well worth it.

I would go into more detail, but this is, after all, a project done for a Restaurant Review in the Magazine. Christopher Carroll has written an excellent article about the restaurant in the magazine, and all the fancy things about it, the art, the food and the overall atmosphere.

To find out more about the Adobe Grill, checkout pages 55 through 59 in the November 2008 Issue of Distinctly Oklahoma. You can find it at any local Oklahoma, Barnes and Nobles and/or Borders stores in the Oklahoma City area. You can also subscribe to the magazine on their website:

Ceramic Corsets, A New Art and Fashion designed by Nicole Moan

Nicole Moan, has been in the Oklahoma City scene for years as an artist. Her entire family revolves around the arts in one form or another. Nicole’s father is a skilled painter, as well as her mother. Nicole’s husband is a fantastic sculptor and I am sure their children are experts at finger painting and mud sculptures in the yard.Kristen Modeling "Leading Lady" Ceramic Corset by Nicole Moan

The point of this blog is not to talk about her family but her art. I have seen some fabulous work in my life and Nicole‘s work definitely stands out. I met Nicole several years ago at the Individual Artists of Oklahoma Gallery in downtown Oklahoma City. From there, I was introduced to her work. She designs and sculpts ceramic corsets.

Recently, I had the pleasure of working with Nicole on a photoshoot with several beautiful and upcoming models.  If you want to see something unique and entertaining to the eye then I highly recommend seeing some of her work. You can see it in many places on the web, including her website: www.nicolemoan.com
